4 Reasons Why You Should Get a Personal Trainer

Why You Should Get a Personal Trainer - Liz Letchford - Personal Trainer San Francisco - Trainer Circle

Whether you haven’t been getting the results you’d like from your workouts, you don’t currently workout and you’re unsure how to start or you just need a boost, personal training can help you accomplish your goals and build the body of your dreams. Why are you better off with a personal trainer instead of working out on your own? There are a couple key benefits that make a world of difference.

1. A Personal Trainer Can Design a Plan Based on Your Unique Needs

Everyone has different goals when they work out. Many of my clients simply want to improve their health and physiques. Others are interested in training for a competition or trying to rehabilitate from an injury.

The best training plan is one that fits you, and that includes your body and your goals. Let’s say that your main goal is to look better at the beach. There are probably millions of “beach body” workout plans you can find, but those are designed to appeal to everyone, not you specifically.

You’ll get much better results when your workout plan is designed with you in mind, no matter what your goals are. There is no one-size-fits-all routine that is best for every situation and person.

When you work with me, the first thing we do is a consultation where we go over where you’re at right now physically and where you’d like to be in the future.

If you’d like to lose five to 10 pounds of fat, I can design a plan to burn calories and get you more toned. If your goal is to gain muscle mass, I can put together a plan with resistance training to get you there. And if you have any sort of physical competition coming up, I can create a plan that will get you ready and have you peaking on the day the competition takes place.

2. A Personal Trainer Can Provide Nutritional Advice

Don’t think for a second that personal training is all about working out. Your diet is even more important when it comes to your results, and even though you’ll be handling that on your own, any trainer will be more than happy to provide you with dietary advice and tips.

With all the nutritional advice that’s out there, it can be hard to separate fact from fiction. Since trainers study all aspects of physical fitness, we’re valuable sources of information. We can help you put together an eating plan that will have you performing at your best during workouts and staying on track to reach your goals.

3. Personal Training Is the Best Way to Stay Motivated

It’s not easy to really push yourself when you’re working out. The brain often wants to quit a long time before the body actually needs to stop. If you’re not used to going past those limits, you won’t get the most out of your workouts. But if you go too far in the other direction and push too hard, you could end up injured and out of action for weeks.

There’s no better source of motivation than a trainer who believes in you and wants to see you do your best. We can help you get those extra few reps that you didn’t think you had inside. You'd be surprised what a difference it makes when you have someone cheering you on. At the same time, we’ll make sure to give you a break when necessary to prevent injuries.

4. Getting Results in Less Time

Now, you could decide a trainer isn’t necessary and that you can figure everything out on your own. You’ll need to research getting the right nutrients every day, pre-workout and post-workout meals, how to perform exercises with proper form and what workout plan will provide your desired results.

That’s all very time-consuming, and it doesn’t make much sense when you could hire a trainer who already has all that knowledge and can educate you on exercise and nutrition. Look at it like this – if your car broke down, would you spend a week reading about cars and repairing it on your own? Probably not, because you could take your car to someone who already had the knowledge to do that job.

You always get the best results when you go to a professional. That’s true in every field, and fitness is no different. And you’ll be gaining knowledge every time you work with your trainer, which means your training sessions will also lead to improvements in the workouts you do on your own. Even if you work with your trainer just once a week, you can apply that knowledge to get more out of every training session.
